The Hazel Hipster - pattern giveaway!

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you to all who entered! To see who the winners are, click HERE.

Who doesn't love bags? Anyone who knows me knows I love bags of all kinds. Just yesterday I showed you the wonderful bag Marit made for me in the Stitcher's Angel Swap. I've shown many other bags that I've made along with tutorials on how to make them here at Hooked On Needles.

Recently I had the opportunity to test a pattern for a new bag designed by Trish Preston over at Two Peas in a Pod. The bag is called The Hazel Hipster and the pattern is ready for purchase, but Trish is sending me one that you could win for yourself in my giveaway so keep reading!

Take a look at my test bag and see what you have to do to win a free pattern so you can make your own...

The Hazel HipsterThis bag was quick to make and used basic sewing skills. I had two half-yard pieces of fabric and some fusible fleece on hand which is what I used. I did have to go hunting for a magnetic snap, and was surprised to find it right at my local Michael's store.

The strap on this bag is quite long so that you can wear it over your shoulder and across to the opposite hip.

The Hazel HipsterThere is a divided pocket on the outside of the bag...

The Hazel Hipster...and a divided pocket on the inside of the bag. The pattern that you could win in this giveaway has ideas for many different ways to make this fun bag. Here's what you have to do for a chance to win your own pattern...

Leave a comment here on this website post (if you are reading this in an email, please click through to the website post to comment) describing the ideal bag for you. Do you like a plain and simple bag with one big pouch and two handles? Do you prefer a fussy bag with lots of pockets and trim and zippers and tabs and snaps? Do you enjoy having a bag for every season, project, event, outing and purpose? What is a bag to you...a necessity, a luxury, a functional item? Tell me how you really feel about bags.

Entries that I cannot reply to will be discarded. Feel free to share this giveaway with your friends. I will choose a winner by random draw with the help of one of my favorite winner-drawers (my children!) on Friday, November 13 and the winner will be announced that day.

Perhaps Friday the 13th will be your lucky day!

Happy Stitching!

  • Did you say BAGS? :D
You know I love bags, and I will love to join the give away for the pattern. It is a very nice bag. I like to have bags for all seasons, I like bags with pockets. I like them with long straps so I can wear them over my shoulder. I like small bags, I like bigger bags, well I just love bags!

  • That is a lovely bag, MG. I love the color and the design with all the pockets.

Now, let me think, oh yes, I love bigger bags. Those that have lots of pockets, ones that I can stuff full of things like all my keys, cellphone, hair brush, tissues, lipstick, etc.

I also love bags made for things like crochet, knitting, sewing, and things like sheet music, books, journals, oh and recipe cards. I just can't list them all.

I need a bag to be more functional with a pursose. It should not be so bold that it would look gaudy, but it needs a little class in case I go out to dinner, or to church. It needs straps and a magnetic snap but not super looooooooooooong straps.

That's my idea of a great bag. Sure hope I win, cause I could use a NEW bag. :)

Love your blog MG. Thanks and Good luck to everyone!

    I new to blogland. :) http://www.trishasdibblesandabbles.blogspot.com/

  • Bags, who can live without them!

Mostly what I like in a bag is 2 or 3 sections with a snap or zipper, a couple of side pockets, and one over the shoulder strap for every day use...

Now if it is a project bag, I like 1 large section with a few pockets, and 2 traps for carrying or/and over the shoulder...

And every now and then I like the small hands free bag, left shoulder to right hip, with a few pockets when out on an active fun day, when I still need to carry my necessities. Keys, license, cards, cash, lipstick, comb, and tissues.

I think that about covers it! 8-)
Thanks for hosting a giveaway MG!

  • i love bags - love, love, love bags! i like them with lots of pockets and i usually carry them over the shoulder...it helps if they either have a zip top or some sort of closure so stuff doesn't spill out when i put it on the seat next to me while driving...and i love color! the wilder and funkier the bag? the better! thanks for the opportunity at your giveaway, mary grace! ☺

  • My ideal bag is not too large--just big enough for wallet, keys, small cosmetic bag, phone and glasses. A few pockets inside to help keep these things organized and a zip closure. Also, a single handle to throw over my shoulder.

  • I have many bags - & sometimes I feel like a "bag lady". My ideal bag for stitching must be able to hold the porta pocket insert that I stitched, I'm one that feels if I sewed it , it's gonna be used, so I change bags frequently. The bag should have a least one pocket. I love bag pattern that I may use coordinating fabrics to enhance the design of the pattern. I prefer that the bag have a closure to protect my valuables from falling out. I'm not to particular about the strap, it depends on the days events and if I'll need my hands free. My summer bags are all about color, & my winter bags are alittle more sofisticated. Happy Quilting!

  • I carried a briefcase for 14 years and seldom used a purse or a bag. That changed 18 months ago and now my collection of bags is growing.

I have a big bag I use for shopping trips - especially when I shopping fabric and craft bags. I'm still looking for the perfect every day bag. I like an inside pocket or two and a clip for attaching my keys to. The bag should close with a zipper or a magnetic snap.

I like the Hipster Bag. It looks like one I would like to use.

  • I love all kinds of bags and I love making them because then you get what you want!
I like strap or straps long enough for over my shoulder. I like some sort of closure and at least one or two pockets, inside or out.

  • Thanks for stopping by and leaving your sweet comment. I have finished Pride and Prejudice since that post and I did enjoy reading it. I think I like a new bag more than a new pair of shoes any day. And the more pockets the better!

  • I like a bag with pockets inside and out. If I'm carrying it as a handbag I like the main compartment to zip close and I like it to go across my body like that Hazel Hipster bag. I like tote bags big, medium and small. I commute on the train to work so having a tote that can hold my lunch and a project and my travel mug is ideal. I just like bags.
