Impromptu Quilt Along Top Finished!

My great idea to join in on the Impromptu Quilt Along over on Flickr to make this fabulous quilt, and thereby use up a substantial portion of my fabric stash and collection of 5-inch charm squares has been an absolute failure! Now please don't misunderstand me. The quilt top turned out just great, and was so fun to make, and even used up some of my fabric stash and 5-inch blocks. But I think I would have to make ten of these very large quilts to even make a dent in my stash of fabric and charm squares! Oh my, how did my fabric supply get so out of control? I'm trying very hard to sound sad about this, but I really cannot! I find such pleasure in working with lovely fabrics making useful things for people, and it's aways a bonus when I have a little of that lovely fabric leftover to use for something else. So here's the Impromptu quilt top made with leftovers from other projects, some of my fat quarter stash, and the tiniest fraction of my charm square collection...

This quilt measures about 90 inches square and the backing and binding will be pieced from more of my stash. Hooray for using up leftovers! This one will have to wait until school resumes in the fall for its turn on the long arm. This summer, I'm hanging with my kids!

Happy Stitching!
