Hazel Hipster in greens and purples

Remember the red, white and black bag I made a while ago to test Trish's Hazel Hipster pattern? I just loved how that bag turned out, so hip and modern. My daughter really liked it too and decided to make it for one of her friends for Christmas. Elizabeth has not done a lot of sewing - she's more into the yarn arts - but she took on this project with enthusiasm and confidence. I think she did a great job! Take a look...

Hazel Hipster in greens and purplesShe picked out these fabrics from Connecting Threads in colors that her friend loves, greens and purples.

Hazel Hipster in greens and purplesI just love how this pattern allows for the lining of the pockets and the bag lining to become the trim at the top of each section. It's a nice detail.

Hazel Hipster in greens and purplesElizabeth had a good time figuring out which fabric she wanted to use and where on this quick and easy bag. She was very pleased with the finished project, and I am sure her friend is going to love it too!

Coming up soon, I'll be sharing a couple of new video tutorials, a sweater I am knitting for myself - yes, for myself! - and a giveaway to celebrate my 500th post. It's about time I had another giveaway, and I think 500 is a good round number! Stay tuned!

Happy Stitching!

The Hazel Hipster - pattern giveaway!

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you to all who entered! To see who the winners are, click HERE.

Who doesn't love bags? Anyone who knows me knows I love bags of all kinds. Just yesterday I showed you the wonderful bag Marit made for me in the Stitcher's Angel Swap. I've shown many other bags that I've made along with tutorials on how to make them here at Hooked On Needles.

Recently I had the opportunity to test a pattern for a new bag designed by Trish Preston over at Two Peas in a Pod. The bag is called The Hazel Hipster and the pattern is ready for purchase, but Trish is sending me one that you could win for yourself in my giveaway so keep reading!

Take a look at my test bag and see what you have to do to win a free pattern so you can make your own...

The Hazel HipsterThis bag was quick to make and used basic sewing skills. I had two half-yard pieces of fabric and some fusible fleece on hand which is what I used. I did have to go hunting for a magnetic snap, and was surprised to find it right at my local Michael's store.

The strap on this bag is quite long so that you can wear it over your shoulder and across to the opposite hip.

The Hazel HipsterThere is a divided pocket on the outside of the bag...

The Hazel Hipster...and a divided pocket on the inside of the bag. The pattern that you could win in this giveaway has ideas for many different ways to make this fun bag. Here's what you have to do for a chance to win your own pattern...

Leave a comment here on this website post (if you are reading this in an email, please click through to the website post to comment) describing the ideal bag for you. Do you like a plain and simple bag with one big pouch and two handles? Do you prefer a fussy bag with lots of pockets and trim and zippers and tabs and snaps? Do you enjoy having a bag for every season, project, event, outing and purpose? What is a bag to you...a necessity, a luxury, a functional item? Tell me how you really feel about bags.

Entries that I cannot reply to will be discarded. Feel free to share this giveaway with your friends. I will choose a winner by random draw with the help of one of my favorite winner-drawers (my children!) on Friday, November 13 and the winner will be announced that day.

Perhaps Friday the 13th will be your lucky day!

Happy Stitching!
