Blogger doesn't want me! HELP!

I just recently found out that Blogger will no longer be supporting websites that are not hosted by them and use FTP to upload content. Hooked On Needles is just such a site. I'm not very good at all the technical computer stuff that goes along with owning a website, which is why I am so grateful to have my fabulous computer-whiz husband to handle all that stuff for me. We need to move Hooked On Needles from Blogger to another service such as WordPress or TypePad and I was hoping I could find out from you, my readers, what you use and recommend. Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated. We will have to start working on this very soon as I understand that Blogger is giving us just another month or so of support. If you notice odd things happening here in the near future, you'll know why!

Happy Stitching!

  • oh goodness! Since I'm on blogger I don't have any suggestions ... not to mention that I am far from a 'techie' myself! good luck!

  • I use blogger & my hubby is the techie in our family.

I read a number of blogs on WordPress - have only found one that didn't like it. You might try creating a question form & send to some of them (most of the ones i read are sweet, helpful ladies). If it didn't take too long to fill out, they'd probably give you the dope on using WordPress.

I don't know anything about TypePad.

  • Actually, Blogger has everything in place for a "seamless" transition for FTP users, and it should be especially easy for you, since you are already using a Blogger template and since you don't have static pages on your site. They should be able to walk you through it.

According to my internet and techie guru, it'll be worthwhile to stick with Blogger. Apparently, they've got some good features in place that they didn't have before. And the transition is doable.

  • Hmmm....? I feel like I am reading another language... Haven't really got a clue what you all are talking about... I hope whatever this is all about won't affect me, cause I'll be lost, and DH is of no help at all! 8-(

  • Oh, good luck, it took me a whole day to re-blog myself. I'll find you whatever you do.

  • couldn't you leave your stuff on blogger as if you were using the blog, and set it to redirect to your web address? another option to try is the Google Sites, which I've used for many things, you can set the pages to act like a blog. I'd give it a whirl. And I've known other to use word press with no problems.. good luck!

  • I Blogger x2 and Wordpress x3 simultaneously-call me a glutton for punishment but I cover my bases with personal and business.
Stick with Blogger and try Wordpress as an alternate site. You've got too much invested in this to stop now :)
