Happy July 4th!

I thought this July 4th weekend would be a good time to revisit some of my favorite handmade red, white and blue items. I'll even share links so that you can make them for yourself if you like!

This is a shawl that I made a while ago, which you can read about HERE. Very many years ago when I was in high school, I had made quite a few shawls just like this except in all black as gifts for the nuns at my school, but I had lost that pattern. So I set about figuring out how to do it and this was my big practice piece once I came up with THIS pattern, and also a colorful and practical way to use up some leftover yarn from a project you will see below. And this is my very favorite red, white and blue project - the Sweet Liberty Afghan I crocheted last summer and donated to a memorial golf tournament. You can read about this one HERE.

I've seen the same design done in different color combinations, and also done without the checkerboard border around each block. It looked so pretty in any combination!
