Christmas - 200th Post Celebration Giveaway

This is a busy time of year for everyone what with preparations for Christmas at home or work or school or all of the above. Family get-togethers and special events fill the calendar. In our little family, all five of our birthdays fall between the end of September and the end of January. Our wedding anniversary is exactly a week before Christmas. And of course there are the big occasions to prepare for and celebrate in that same timeframe - Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years.

Since I started Hooked On Needles to share my love of all things hook and needle related, I have had to plan ahead a little more than usual. So looking ahead on the calendar, I see not only Christmas coming up fast, but also my 200th post which is scheduled to fall the day after our 26th wedding anniversary. I'd say that's a good reason to celebrate with a giveaway, wouldn't you?

I decided to time this giveaway so that the winner will be announced in my 200th post and hopefully the prize package will be received before all the Christmas spirit has been exhausted.

Here's what I have made for you...

Crocheted Angel Christmas OrnamentIt's a crocheted angel Christmas ornament, complete with poofy wings, a halo and a pretty white bow around the middle. This is made with white crochet cotton and an old fashioned clothes pin. You may remember seeing this angel once before when I sent two away as my Christmas ornament swap gift to Nicole in Utah.

Christmas GiveawayAlong with the little crocheted angel, I have put together some other Christmas goodies for the winner which you can seen in the picture. There are some metal gift tags that say "HoHoHo", "Christmas", and "Angel". There is a nice little cut of Christmas fabric, some Christmas color DMC embroidery floss, a roll of Merry Christmas ribbon, a package of 3 dimensional Christmas gift tags, a Mary Engelbreit magnet, and a package of Christmas notecards. In this picture, you can also see some beaded ornaments which I made hanging on the little tree. I might even include a few of those to sparkle up your tree.

So what do YOU have to do to help celebrate Christmas with Hooked On Needles and my 200th post? I know how busy you are right now, so I won't ask too much. Just leave a comment on this post before our 26th wedding anniversary. I've already mentioned when that is. I would love to hear how you met your spouse. I'll tell you how I met mine - ready for this? I met my husband in the ladies room at work. There, I said it. If you are not married, then I would love to hear how you celebrated your first Christmas living away from your childhood home. If you are still living in your childhood home, then how about sharing your most special Christmas memory? See, that's not asking too much, is it?

Make sure you leave your email address in your comment if you post anonymously or if your email is set to no-reply. If I can't email you, I will have to disregard your comment.

Now I have to start thinking about what to make for the Whirl Into Winter Giveaway which will begin on January 1st. That cute little snowflake on my sidebar will guide you to information about this fun post-Christmas event which is being hosted by the same wonderful and generous lady who hosted the Fall Into Fall Giveaway a few months back.

I am still looking for one more sporting person to join my Pay It Forward exchange. If you are interested, just click the button on my sidebar to read all about it.

Happy Stitching!

  • In the ladies room???!?!??! I'm sure there's more to THAT story, lol!!

Sweet giveaway - I'd love to enter, thank you! We met on a blind date, and I went to work the next day and told everyone he was boring because he shook my hand after the date, lol. We've been married for 23 years - I guess he wasn't as boring as I thought :)

  • well ...hmm Happy Anniversary to you!
It seems like in the washroom is not the whole story-so on a cold snowy day when you are bored, come on and post.
I met my husband in college- he was in my class and he offered to tutor me, little did I know I got a A and he got a D- not much of a tutor, unless I distracted him, oh well, we are still together after 2 decades plus and manychallenges. Our first Christmas after we were married was hell, his mother was and still is the biggest PIA in the world. We came home and celebrated our holiday again New Years Eve and I vowed not to go see her on holidays since she likes to start drama, and have not since.

  • Wow! I thought just the angel was a great gift, but then you tossed in everything else! You are so sweet!

I 'met' my husband originally as my daughter's band teacher when she was in the sixth grade. Nothing happened between us though for almost 3 years. He would be directing the pep band at the high school basketball games and I would be doing extra duty as hall monitor at them. He started coming and talking to me during third quarter of each game when he gives the band a break. I didn't think anything of it until he asked (after the 4th or 5th game) if I would like to go out sometime. I KNEW on that first date that he was IT! We've been married almost five yars now and have a great 3 1/2 year old boy. Once my daughter got over the initial embarassment of her mom dating her teacher, she (now 19) has grown to love him as another dad. We're all very happy and feel very blessed.

  • I met my husband at work, I had taken a new job and he sat next to me. We got to be fast friends, we had so much in common. We were both raising 2 kids as single parents (we were both the ones left by our first spouses), we had the same amount of work experience in our specialized field and looked at our jobs in the same way. We began dating a few months later and after 4 years decided to marry and merge our families. What was pretty funny is that no one at work ever knew we were dating and we didn't really try to hide it, they just thought we were friends. We've been married 13 years and he is definately a keeper.

  • I had a part time flat mate and he asked if his mate could stay until he found another place as he was coming from about 8hrs drive away to work with my part time flat mate. This was ok with me.
I came home the nihgt he was due to arrive and found this person asleep on my lounge room floor, spikey blonde hair peeking out of the blankets, *grin*. We got along really well and things developed from there, got married 22 months later.
Please enter me in the draw.
    Thanks,
    Bec xxx

  • What a fun giveaway. I met my ex-husband on my birthday, which happens to be July 4th. He was a Jaycee at the time and helping with the fireworks display. I met him and was able to be right under the fireworks at the time. I love the angel (I collect them) but mine have never turned out quite as nice as yours has.

  • Hi Mary Grace,
I would love to be entered in your giveaway. I met my husband a little over 40 years ago. We lived in the same apartment complex near the Iowa State University football stadium. I was just going out to empty the trash when I see this guy in a little red Mustang. He leans over and says to me "don't I know you from somewhere". I was only 19 but even then I thought "what a line"!! Even our kids laugh at the story. As you know from my blog we celebrated 40 years this November. I don't know how that can be!!! :-)
P.S. I might be interested in doing another PIF. Let me think on it and I'll get back to you tomorrow.

  • Happy 200th post and anniversary!
I originally met my best friend and husband at a college car race. We bacame close friends when he was the best man and I was the maid of honor at our best friends wedding. I thought he was too nice and too short to ever like seriously, but thankfully, God had different plans. Still happy 18 years later! Kattau91@comcast.net

  • The angel is beautiful! What a fun giveaway question. The first time I met my husband was when I moved to a new city, on my own. I was 21 years old. I quickly found a job and he was my boss. I quit shortly after but we became friends and started dating. We married 5 months later and that was 30 years ago. Still happy and in love.

  • Oh I hope I'm not too late for your wonderful giveaway...and thanks so much for coming by my blog. My husband & I met September 14, 1968 on a blind date. We were married March 17, 1969 and he's been "spoiling me rotten" ever since. God was smiling on me the day we met! ;-) Bo
