Iced Over -- But OK

Hooked On Needles has been off line for a few days due to a severe storm that blanketed the whole region with inches of ice. My little family huddled in our home for 3 days without heat, water or electricity while the power companies worked tirelessly to restore electricity to the area. We lost many large trees, but no damage to our home or property. It was a fun adventure for the kids, sort of like camping out in their own home. We worried about freezing pipes in the house as the temperature dropped into the low 40s inside and close to single digits outside. My older daughter and I accomplished quite a bit of stitching during the daylight hours, so there is always a silver lining to every ice storm cloud!

I have some pictures I will post when time permits. For now, I must get back outside and continue helping my husband remove the trees hovering over the swing set, which appears surprisingly undamaged.

Happy Stitching!

  • OH MY GOSH I'm glad you came through the ice storm OK - I've been seeing awfully scary pictures on the news, and I wondered if any of my online/bloggy friends had been affected! I'm afraid I would have been extremely cranky with no electricity and internet for that long - your family seems to have come through it unscathed, yay!! You're all safe and sound and that's most definitely the most important thing! Nice to have you back, and I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures!

  • Wow, that is a long time, I would have been gone nuts, you sound like your family made it a fun time instead of a harship, I am so glad you are safe, sound and warm!

  • Glad to hear your power is up and running. We had ours back Saturday night. My daughter was having such a great time, she was mad that it came back on. It really is amazing to see the devastation, but also amazing to see how people have pulled together to make sure everyone is ok.

  • Glad to hear all is well with you all MG!!! Those kinds of times are challenging, but one can be very creative, and it ends up being a good family bonding time if one can get through it all in a positive light. Good for you! 8-)
