Hand Painted Baby Quilt for Teacher
When my oldest daughter was in 8th grade, the teacher she had was loved very much by all the students and she was expecting her second child by the end of the school year. For one of their art projects, I brought in precut squares of fabric and some fabric paint markers. Each of the students designed and painted a unique square which I sewed up into a quilt for the teacher.
This is what it looked like when it was all finished and ready for the class to present it to Mrs. Wilson.
Each student drew freehand and painted whatever they wanted on the square and then signed it with their name. In the bottom right corner a little message was written in the same fabric paint. I found the bright cheerful fabric for the sashing and border at Walmart and cut it into narrow stips before sewing onto the squares. With the leftover strips, I sewed them into blocks and cut them on the bias to be used as the binding.
This was a fun project for the students to make and give to their teacher and a nice way to leave her a remembrance of each one of them.
