There were no plans here this past week for any sewing since my kids were home on their Christmas vacation and we did lots of fun things together. But I actually had a day where they were busy playing with their new toys and nothing pressing was on the calendar, so I spent some time in my sewing room. Remember Karen's postage stamp quilt that I was piecing a while ago? I never showed a finished picture of that quilt top, but I'll show a close-to-finished picture below! Anyway, I was able to piece the backing for that quilt and was reminded again just how beautiful this fabric line is! Here it is...
This is a fabric line called Lately Arrived From London by Barbara Brackman for Moda. It is so rich and warm and just lovely! I had some of the postage stamp blocks leftover from piecing the front, so I put them together, framed them in the red feather fabric that will also be the binding, then wrapped all that in the gorgeous backing fabric.
This is the quilt top at its not-quite-finished stage which is the last picture I got of it! It is all finished now, the backing is squared up and both pieces have been measured and neatly folded away waiting their turn on the long arm machine later this month.
Aside from a few rows of crocheting on my current scrap afghan, that is all the sewing or crafting I did over the Christmas school break. Well, unless you count helping Grace stitch up her two Build-a-Bear kits that she received! Now my kids are back in school and our undecorating won't begin until later this week, after January 6th, so I think I might just have some time to make some serious progress on the next quilt on my list. Pictures of that will be coming very soon!
