Matching Crocheted Hat ~ Short Row Technique
After finishing the striped scarf requested by my son, which I showed HERE, of course I had to make a matching hat with the leftover yarn. I browsed around the internet looking for just the right pattern, and found THIS one. I had seen a friend of mine crochet a hat like this before, using the short row technique, but I didn't quite know how to get it going myself. This pattern was just what I needed to provide me with beginning chain numbers and such.
Using the leftover Red Heart Team Spirit yarn from the scarf, I made the hat just how the instructions say, working in the back loops only and using single crochet throughout. The self-striping yarn did all the work of changing colors, and even made the pom pom multicolor too! If you want to see a quick and easy way to make pom poms without any gadgets, check out THIS tutorial from a few years ago. This is how I always make my pom poms!
Nice looking set, don't you think?
Happy Stitching!
